Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is taking a firm stance on squad discipline, introducing new rules to ensure players remain focused and committed. In a significant change, Amorim has abolished the practice of allowing players to use international breaks as opportunities for extended vacations.

Amorim took up his coaching duties just over a week ago and found his squad depleted due to many being away playing for their nations. Two players who were not involved for their national teams were Marcus Rashford and Casemiro.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding Marcus Rashford and Casemiro’s trips to the United States during the international break.

While refraining from directly criticizing the players, Amorim hinted at a need for change in the club’s policies.

Rashford was spotted attending an NBA game at Madison Square Garden, while Casemiro visited Disney World in Florida.

Their excursions drew criticism from former United defender Gary Neville, who questioned the optics and the players’ decision to travel abroad during a challenging period for the club.

Amorim acknowledged that the players had been granted five days off and were not explicitly prohibited from traveling. He emphasized that the issue lies with the club’s structure rather than the players’ actions.

Amorim stated, “Would I set a different structure? Yes, for sure. But we cannot put this on the players.

They were told they have five days off, so they can fly anywhere. Because nobody in the club says you cannot fly. So, we cannot, this time, put that on Rash [Rashford] or Case [Casemiro].”
