Man United Youngster Set To Begin Training with the First Team

Sekou Kone

Sekou Kone is edging closer to full-time training for Manchester United’s first team following his £1m summer transfer.

Before manager Erik Ten Hag’s sacking, the 18-year-old trained with the first team for the first time since his move from Mali club Guidars FC was confirmed. The midfielder was drafted into the senior group, and several midfielders were out of action.

Kone, who initially linked up with the academy before becoming a regular presence in first-team training sessions, is also adapting to a more intense and physical training regime at United than he was used to back in his homeland.

Kone was first scouted by United in November at the Under-17 World Cup in Indonesia. Multiple staff members from United watched Kone throughout that tournament as Mali beat Argentina to claim a third-place finish, and they identified a player of significant interest to follow.

After following Kone at the U17 World Cup, another United scout attended an Under-18 tournament in Morocco in April, where he featured as one of the players of the tournament.

Under new Manager Ruben Amorim Kone has now been earmarked for full-time first team session towards the second part of the season according to reports.
