Manchester City Target Paul Pogba Amid Midfield Crisis

According to The Independent, Manchester City have identified Paul Pogba as a potential midfield recruit to address their current poor form.

The Frenchman, who has been serving a doping ban, is reportedly a target for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Manchester City’s season has been marred by a dismal run of form, with only one win in their last 10 games across all competitions.

The injury to Rodri, who sustained a season-ending ACL injury, has exacerbated the midfield crisis. Guardiola is keen to bolster his squad with January reinforcements.

Pogba, 31, has been out of action due to a doping ban, which was initially four years but reduced to eight months.

He will be eligible to return to training in January and compete in matches from March. However, The Independent reports that Pogba is hesitant to join Manchester City due to his strong ties with their rivals, Manchester United.

Pogba’s contract with Juventus was officially terminated last month. His doping ban stemmed from elevated testosterone levels detected in 2023.

Despite Manchester City’s interest, Pogba’s concerns about returning to Manchester and his loyalty to Manchester United may influence his decision.
