Marcus Rashford Sparks Debate On His United Future

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has taken to social media to bite back at the spreading of ‘malicious rumours’ about his future.Rashford has started the season in slow form for the Red Devils having scored only once in 14 appearances across all competitions, while he came under fire from manager Erik Ten Hag last week for attending a nightclub for his birthday in the aftermath of their recent 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City.

Though Ten Hag confirmed the matter was internal and he’s previously dropped Rashford for off-pitch reasons, the Dutchman revealed he was in line to start Saturday’s 1-0 win at Fulham before a heavy knock in United’s final pre-match training session ruled him out.

The United first team was then spotted out in Manchester that evening to enjoy a celebratory team meal, but Rashford was absent despite the existence of other injured players.

Buffs on social media have disputed whether Rashford should be seen as undroppable by Ten Hag when fit, with YouTube channel The United Stand hosting a live stream on Monday morning to discuss his future at the club.

However, Rashford did not take kindly to this speculation, replying to their post on X:

“Please STOP spreading malicious rumours.”

Despite such discussion about his future, Rashford has not been correlated with a move away from United, if in part because he signed a lucrative long-term contract over the summer.

He was formerly wooed by French champions Paris Saint-Germain, who were ready to propose him higher earnings than that put forth by United, but he flouted their advances to stay at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford penned that new five-year deal off the back of a career-best season for United, scoring a staggering 30 goals in all competitions and helping them end their six-year trophy drought with accomplishment in the Carabao Cup.
