Man United Offer New Contract Proposal to Kobbie Mainoo

Manchester United are prepared to quintuple Kobbie Mainoo’s current wages in a bid to retain the academy star amid stalled contract talks, following concerns over his potential departure.

Negotiations initially hit a snag when Mainoo’s representatives reportedly sought a salary of £180,000 per week to align with his growing first-team prominence.

However, United’s ownership group, INEOS—keen on streamlining the club’s wage structure—hesitated to meet that figure, sparking speculation about the 19-year-old’s exit.

Interest in the versatile midfielder has surged, with Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid reportedly monitoring the situation.

Mainoo, who has filled multiple roles in midfield and attack under manager Ruben Amorim, is said to prefer a move abroad if he departs.

Amorim has reportedly raised questions about the youngster’s fitness levels for his tactical 3-4-3 system, further fueling uncertainty.

However, optimism now emerges from Givemesport via Fabrizio Romano, which reports that Mainoo is eager to stay at Old Trafford and would reject Champions League suitors if an agreement is reached.

United view him as integral to their plans, valuing him similarly to Amad Diallo, who recently signed a new £120,000-per-week deal—a significant increase from his previous £28,846 weekly earnings.

With both sides motivated to resolve terms, the Stockport-born talent’s future could soon be secured at his boyhood club.
