UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Manchester United Match Report and Player Ratings
Manchester United came up short after a hard fight in Denmark at Parken Stadium.
The Red were cruising after Rasmus Højlund put them ahead with 2 goals inside 20 minutes into the first half but a harsh red card to Marcus Rashford would see the game turn on its head.
Copenhagen levelled things up before the break and was in the control seat in the closing hours of the first half, thanks to a penalty awarded.
The second half will see Manchester United get awarded a penalty after Maguire’s header touches the arms of the Copenhagen defender, Bruno Fernandes immediately stepped up and converted the spot kick.
Manchester United couldn’t hold on to their lead for a long period of the game with Copenhagen instantly reacting in just a matter of few minutes and went ahead with a superb volley from Ronny.
Manchester United now sits bottom of their Champions League group after 3 losses in four games. A win away to Galatasaray and at home to Bayern Munich is now an absolute must.
Although, Manchester United fought dauntlessly despite being a player short. Here’s how the Manchester United Players were rated;
GK: Andre Onana 4/10 – Andre Onana didn’t have his best night after conceding 4 in the game and could not do much to influence the result.
RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6/10 – Bissaka was outstanding in the opening minutes of the game was involved in the opening goal, and continued to show personality despite a series of attacks coming through his flank.
CB: Jonny Evans 3/10 – Injured in the premature hours and was forced off with an apparent injury.
CB: Harry Maguire 5/10 – Not one of Harry’s best nights after he gave away a penalty and conceded four on the night, but he found a bit of respite after his penalty at the other end of the pitch gave Manchester United the lead, but didn’t that last for long.
LB: Diogo Dalot 4/10 – An absolutely poor performance from Dalot who allowed in a few goals from his end.
CM: Scott Mctominay 5/10 – Had an Assist on the night but could not do any more extra throughout the game.
CM: Christian Eriksen 4/10 – A bit influential at the start but could not keep up with the pace of the game and was later substituted after halftime.
AM: Bruno Fernandes 6.5/10 – Converted the spot kick to put Manchester in the driving seat but a little above average performance overall.
RW: Marcus Rashford 2/10 – can be described as the nemesis of Manchester United’s loss tonight after his red card changed the course of the game.
LW: Alejandro Garnacho 5/10 – He was sharp at certain moments of the game but his presence was not
ST: Rasmus Højlund 8/10 – Scored a brace on the night but it wasn’t enough for Manchester United’s victory.
