Man Utd Offered the Chance to Re-sign Former Star Player
Manchester United Contemplate Surprising Reunion with David De Gea

Manchester United is reportedly considering an unexpected move to re-sign former goalkeeper David De Gea, whose contract with Fiorentina expires this summer.
The Spanish shot-stopper spent 12 impactful years at Old Trafford, departing in 2023 after his deal lapsed. During his tenure, De Gea emerged as a cornerstone of the team, particularly in the challenging post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, earning the club’s Player of the Season honor a record four times.
Initially, De Gea’s exit was viewed as a natural conclusion to his chapter at United. However, recent reports from SPORT suggest the club now harbors regrets over the decision, especially amid growing doubts about current first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana.
United is reportedly preparing a contract offer for De Gea once his short-term stint with Fiorentina concludes, though his role whether as a starter or a mentor to Onana remains unclear.
De Gea’s resurgence in Serie A with Fiorentina has bolstered his leverage, potentially fueling demands for a starting position.
The Italian club’s owner, Rocco B. Commisso, has publicly expressed hopes of retaining him, stating, “Our goal is to keep key players like De Gea and Nicolo Fagioli, but their willingness to stay will shape our plans for a stronger squad next season.”
He also emphasized defiance against larger clubs poaching talent, though historic Premier League giants like United may hold greater allure.
