Leverkusen Wants Reduced Price Tag for United’s Forward

Bayer Leverkusen, now under the guidance of former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, is reportedly pushing for a reduced price tag for highly-rated Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho.

However, Manchester United are standing firm on their valuation, seeking in excess of £40 million to sanction the 20-year-old’s departure this summer.

Sources close to the negotiations suggest that Ten Hag is eager to reunite with Garnacho, a player he handed a senior debut to at Old Trafford.

The young forward has reportedly fallen out of favour with current Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, creating an opportunity for Leverkusen to swoop in.

Despite the player’s apparent desire for a move and the strained relationship with his current manager, Manchester United are under no pressure to sell cheaply.

The club views Garnacho, a product of their academy, as a valuable asset who would represent pure profit on their balance sheet for Financial Fair Play purposes.

While reports indicate that Leverkusen initially explored a loan move for Garnacho, United are only interested in a permanent transfer.

The German champions, who have already seen key players like Jeremie Frimpong and potentially Florian Wirtz depart this summer, are expected to have a considerable transfer budget.

However, their reluctance to meet United’s current asking price suggests they are hoping to secure a more financially favourable deal.

Several other top European clubs, including Chelsea, Napoli, Juventus, Inter Milan, Roma, AC Milan, and Aston Villa, have also been linked with Garnacho, indicating a competitive market for his signature.

This widespread interest could further strengthen Manchester United’s negotiating position as they aim to maximize their return on the talented winger.

The coming weeks are expected to be crucial as all parties look to resolve Garnacho’s future before the summer transfer window closes.
