Man United Ready to Hijack move for Colombian Midfielder

Manchester United Eyeing Late Hijack for Richard Ríos as Roma Lead Race

Manchester United have reportedly made a last-ditch attempt to sign highly-rated Palmeiras midfielder Richard Ríos, entering the fray to potentially hijack a deal that AS Roma were believed to be far ahead in.

The Colombian international is understood to be available for a fee in the region of £25 million.

Ríos, 25, has been a standout performer for Palmeiras, drawing attention from several European clubs, particularly after his impressive displays in recent competitions including the FIFA Club World Cup and Copa America.

His blend of defensive prowess, dribbling ability, and passing range has made him a sought-after talent.

Roma had been considered front-runners for Ríos’ signature, with reports suggesting they had submitted bids and were actively negotiating with the Brazilian club.

However, it appears Palmeiras have been holding out for a fixed fee closer to £26 million (€30 million), with Roma’s previous offers including add-ons.

Manchester United’s sudden interest could prove to be a significant turning point in the transfer saga. With manager Rúben Amorim looking to bolster his midfield options, and concerns over the longevity of veteran players like Casemiro, Ríos presents an attractive and relatively affordable option.

United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, and head of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, are reported to have been monitoring Ríos for some time.

While Roma’s pursuit has been sustained, the financial muscle and allure of a move to the Premier League with Manchester United could sway Ríos’ decision.
