Amorim Confirms: Man United Star Set to Miss Out on Liverpool’s Clash

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is facing a significant selection headache ahead of the crucial Premier League clash against rivals Liverpool, with versatile defender Noussair Mazraoui a serious doubt for the trip to Anfield.

The 27-year-old Moroccan international has been sidelined with an unspecified injury and his potential absence would be a blow to the Red Devils’ defensive setup.

Mazraoui has missed United’s last two matches against Brentford and Sunderland. While there were initial hopes of his return after the October international break, his participation in the weekend fixture remains uncertain.

Amorim had previously indicated that Mazraoui would not return until after the break, and recent reports suggest the defender missed Thursday’s group training session as preparations ramp up.

The defender did link up with the Morocco national team during the international window for recovery and medical assessment, but he did not feature in their World Cup qualifiers.

This latest development casts a shadow over his availability for the intense rivalry fixture, which is a must-win for Manchester United as they look to build momentum.

Mazraoui proved to be a vital player for Amorim last season, featuring heavily in the starting XI. His potential absence could force a reshuffle in United’s back line, with Amorim often utilising him in a right-sided wing-back or back-three role.

The full picture of the squad’s fitness is expected to be provided by Amorim during his pre-match press conference later today, where he will be pressed for an update on Mazraoui and other key players who missed recent training, including Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, Amad Diallo, and Casemiro.
