Cristiano Ronaldo Advises Two Portuguese Stars to Join Man United this Summer
Manchester United could be set for a stunning double raid on Sporting CP, with manager Ruben Amorim openly discussing the potential departures of Pedro Gonçalves and Francisco Trincão—two players who have been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Pedro Gonçalves: A Midfield Quality on United’s Radar

Amorim dropped a major hint that Pedro Gonçalves could follow him to the Premier League.
The 25-year-old midfielder has been one of Sporting’s standout performers in recent seasons, contributing 81 goals and 57 assists in 189 appearances since joining from Famalicão in 2020 for just €6.5 million.
Gonçalves, who can operate as a central midfielder or left-winger, has started the 2024/25 season in scintillating form, registering five goals and six assists in 11 games across all competitions.
Despite his impressive performances, Gonçalves has only earned three caps for Portugal, a surprising statistic given his consistent excellence in the Primeira Liga.
When asked about the possibility of bringing Gonçalves to Old Trafford, Amorim said: “He can play in any team in the world and with any player because he is a great player. I could take him anywhere.
He is very funny, which improves personal relationships. He is also very intelligent, but he also has to focus on Sporting because we have to be champions this year. But he could play in any team in the world.”
Gonçalves has been instrumental in Sporting’s two league titles under Amorim, and his versatility, creativity, and goal threat make him an attractive option for United as they look to revamp their midfield.
Francisco Trincão: Another Portuguese Talent on United’s Radar

Another Sporting player reportedly on United’s shortlist is Francisco Trincão, who has reignited his career after a difficult spell at Wolves in the 2020/21 season.
The 25-year-old winger has been in fine form this season, recently starring for Portugal in the UEFA Nations League, where he came off the bench to score a brace against Denmarkin the quarter-finals.
Trincão, who spent last season on loan at Sporting before making his move permanent, has shown flashes of the talent that once made him one of Barcelona’s most exciting young prospects.

With Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly advising both players to make the switch to Manchester United, the Red Devils could be poised for a major Portuguese influx under Ruben Amorim.
