Fabrizio Romano Confirms: Man United Set to Table Bid for Sesko

Manchester United Accelerate Sesko Pursuit: Concrete Talks Begin for RB Leipzig Striker

Manchester United have significantly stepped up their efforts to sign highly-rated RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, with journalist Fabrizio Romano confirming that the club has now initiated “concrete conversations” for the Slovenian international.

This development comes after weeks of internal discussions at Old Trafford regarding the 22-year-old forward.

Sesko has been a long-term target for several top European clubs, and Manchester United’s increased focus on him signals a decisive move in their summer transfer strategy.

Manager Ruben Amorim has been keen to bolster his attacking options, and with Viktor Gyokeres seemingly headed to Arsenal, Sesko has emerged as a prime candidate.

Reports suggest that while Manchester United have been discussing Sesko internally for some time, the focus has now shifted to tangible negotiations with RB Leipzig.

The German club is understood to be seeking a fee in the region of €70-80 million, with additional add-ons, for their star striker who extended his contract until 2029 last year.

However, a “gentleman’s agreement” is reportedly in place allowing Sesko to leave for a suitable offer.

Sesko has impressed since joining RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023, showcasing his prolific goalscoring ability. In the 2024/25 season, he scored 21 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga side.

His performances have attracted considerable attention, with Newcastle United also heavily linked and reportedly preparing a significant proposal for his services.

Manchester United have already made key attacking additions this summer, including Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. However, the club clearly remains intent on bringing in a proven natural striker to lead the line.

The potential arrival of Sesko would provide a significant boost to Amorim’s squad as they aim to improve upon a challenging previous season.

While the financial implications of such a deal would be substantial, especially given United’s recent spending on Cunha (£62.5m) and Mbeumo (£65m), the club appears committed to securing a top-tier No. 9.

Sources close to the player suggest Sesko himself would prefer a move to Old Trafford, despite the strong interest from Newcastle.
