Fulham 0-1 Manchester United: Player ratings as Fernandes’ late goal eased pressure on Ten Hag
Manchester United beat Fulham 1-0 in the early kick-off on Saturday. Bruno Fernandes’ late effort left the Red Devils red-faced and relieved the pressure on Erik ten Hag.
Manchester United thought they had scored an early goal to ease tensions at Craven Cottage, but Scott McTominay’s shot was controversially ruled offside by Harry Maguire. The rest of the first half lacked quality, with both teams holding their breath but failing to create any serious scoring chances.
Man United looked set to fail again after a disappointing second-half performance, but Fernandes scored in stoppage time from just outside the penalty area to give the visiting West London side three points. It was a coincidence in a sense.Here’s the Manchester United Full Player ratings against Fulham at Craven Cottage;
•GK: Andre Onana – 7/10 – Made some strong saves when needed and blocked some strong attempts in the second half.
•RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7/10 – Dealt well with Willian in 1v1 situations and was usually solid in this challenge.
•CB: Harry Maguire – 8/10 – He took a blow to the head early in the game and was a bit unlucky when he was ruled offside for Manchester United’s disallowed first goal. He performed well against Fulham’s lively attacking line and made some key interventions.
•CB: Jonny Evans – 6/10 – Solid enough but not tested much by Fulham’s forwards.
•LB: Diogo Dalot – 6/10 – Impressive intervention to save Wilson in the first half. He took some wayward shots from distance and then gave Wilson a rushing yellow.
•CM: Christian Eriksen – 4/10 – Really bad considering his high standards, he gives away the ball too easily. He was not able to win as close as he did against Kobenhavn.
•CM: Scott McTominay – 6/10 – Plenty of positive runs deep off Fulham, at times outrunning Rasmus Hjølund. His influence waned as the game progressed.
•RW: Antony – 3/10 – After learning the power of invisibility, Antony used it against Flam. 85 million pounds… wow.
•AM: Bruno Fernandes – 8/10 – Arguably United’s best player in attack and defence, and looks the most dangerous for Ten Hag’s team. It won a decisive victory and was well received. Game changer.
•LM: Alejandro Garnacho – 6/10 – Lively, but a little irritable at times. Not as memorable as last season’s match-winning performance at Craven Cottage.
•ST: Rasmus Højlund – 5/10 – Completely isolated overall. He needs better service if he wants to have a successful debut season at United.
