“I’m A Serial Winner” Erik Ten Hag Sends Fresh Transfer Message To Ineos

Erik ten Hag came out fighting after steering Manchester United to an FA Cup final victory and told his Ineos bosses that if they don’t want him he will go and win trophies with another club.

The Dutchman has won two trophies in two seasons at United but is still in danger of being sacked despite the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City, with teenagers Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo scoring the goals.

Ten Hag has overseen a dismal Premier League season that ended with United finishing eighth with a negative goal difference and although he insists Ineos have told him they want him to stay, they have also sounded out potential replacements.

With intense speculation on his United future dominating the build-up to Saturday’s game, Ten Hag will have been hoping for a statement performance. And that’s exactly what he got.

Not only did the players give everything, but his tactics worked a treat as a solid bank of four comprising Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Garnacho made it night on impossible for City to pass into midfield during the first half.

“I am in a project and we are exactly where we want to be, we are on our way to constructing a team for the future. I will go with ups and downs,” said Ten Hag.

“When I took over we were in a mess at United. The team is developing, the team is winning and at the end of the day it is about winning trophies and the team also plays to an identity. But you need the players to be available and need a strong squad in top football, especially when you play in England and Europe.

“The Premier League is so competitive so you need a very good squad and you need players available. There is still a lot of work to do but we are exactly where we are, we have value in the squad, high potentials progressing very good, the team is progressing and we are winning trophies.

“Two trophies in two years is not bad, three finals in two years is not bad. We have to keep going. I’m not satisfied with it, we have to do better and if they don’t want me any more then I go somewhere else to win trophies because that is what I did my whole career.”

Ten Hag was asked if it would be harsh for him to be sacked after the FA Cup final win and said: “When I started here I said I am here to win and also I want to build a team and both I am doing but if they don’t want me I go somewhere else and win games and win trophies.”

He was also asked how this victory compared to the success he had enjoyed with Ajax and in his response mentioned other clubs he has managed, but admitted the FA Cup was a particular highlight.

“And with Utrecht and [Go Ahead] Eagles so everywhere, it is always difficult to compare but the FA Cup was absolutely one on my bucket list, it is such a huge trophy,” he said. “I am so happy we won it with the players the team and the staff, it is a real team performance.”

The future of Erik Ten Hag is still hanging on a thread but a final decision is expected in the coming days.
