Revealed: INEOS and Omar Berrada Set To Make Final Decision On United’s Director Of Football

Manchester United confirmed the appointment of Omar Berrada two weeks ago as the club’s new chief executive officer. Berrada, moved to United from local rivals Manchester City.

Berrada had been City’s chief football operations officer since September 2020 and was previously the club’s group commercial director and director of partnership sales. United have been without a CEO since November when Richard Arnold announced his decision to stand down. It was understood that incoming new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe had identified Berrada as an ideal candidate.

According to reliable sources from where Telegraph; INEOS wanted Omar Berrada in place first so he could have some valuable input into the choice of director of football given their strong belief that the two men and the manager must “share a vision” and work as a “coherent whole”.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team hope to appoint a new director of football at Manchester United within the next few weeks! Dan Ashworth, Julian Ward, Dougie Freedman and Paul Mitchell are thought to be among those whose credentials have been discussed.

Omar Berrada and the incoming director of football will ultimately be the ones to determine the fate of Erik ten Hag, whose future remains shrouded in uncertainty. There are zero guarantees that Erik ten Hag will still be Manchester United’s manager next season.
