Man United Loanee Slammed by Former Manager as a “Bad Loan”

Under Ineos’ leadership, Manchester United is prioritizing a summer squad revamp, aiming to generate £100 million through player sales.

Many of whom are currently out on loan. Among the 17 loanees, some have thrived, while others have struggled to make an impact.

For Marcus Rashford, he’s excelling during his stint at Aston Villa, is likely to secure a permanent £40 million move, thanks to a buy clause in his loan deal.

Similarly, Antony’s resurgence at Real Betis has prompted United to set a £40 million valuation for the winger, whose recent form has reignited interest.

Malacia’s Struggles Draw Criticism

In contrast, left-back Tyrell Malacia’s loan spell at PSV Eindhoven has been underwhelming.

Returning from a long-term injury, the 24-year-old failed to adapt to manager Ruben Amorim’s system at United before joining PSV in January.

His time in the Eredivisie has been marred by defensive errors, including a costly mistake in PSV’s 2-0 loss to Ajax, where he gifted a goal to opponent Lassina Traoré.

PSV’s defensive record has deteriorated during Malacia’s tenure, with nine goals conceded in his six league appearances and a humbling 7-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League.

The Dutch club’s European campaign ended abruptly with a 9-3 aggregate loss to the Gunners, further highlighting their vulnerabilities.

Pundits and Legends Voice Disapproval

PSV icon René van de Kerkhof publicly urged Malacia to return to Manchester, while Dutch ESPN analyst Marciano Vink labeled his acquisition a “mistake.”

Former PSV manager Aad de Mos echoed these sentiments, criticizing Malacia’s positioning and PSV’s overall defensive setup: “He’s a bad buy.

His error handed Ajax a goal, and the backline remains a glaring issue.”

With just two wins in Malacia’s six Eredivisie starts, PSV’s frustrations underscore the challenges faced by some of United’s loanees.

As Ineos prepares for a summer clear-out, performances like these could dictate the futures of several players at Old Trafford.
