Manchester United Secure 2-0 Victory Over FCSB, Advance in UEFA Europa League

Manchester United sealed their progression to the next round of the UEFA Europa League with a convincing 2-0 win over FCSB.

Manager Ruben Amorim’s tactical switch paid off, as he deployed Bruno Fernandes in midfield and Kobbie Mainoo in the left number 10 position.

The match began slowly, with a dull first half, but came to life after Amorim’s attacking substitutions.

Diogo Dalot broke the deadlock, and Mainoo doubled United’s lead, securing the win.

Although Manchester United created several scoring opportunities, they were not clinical in the final third, missing chances to add to their tally.

Nevertheless, the victory maintains their unbeaten record in the Europa League group stage, making them the only team to achieve this feat.

GK–Altay Bayindir –7/10: Made a crucial late save to deny Baluta, showcasing his reflexes and shot-stopping ability.

RCB–Noussair Mazraoui –7/10: Demonstrated excellent positioning and distributed the ball effectively, highlighting his defensive prowess.

CCB–Matthijs de Ligt – 7/10: Enjoyed a solid outing against FCSB’s uninspiring attack, showcasing his defensive capabilities.

LCB–Lisandro Martinez – 8/10: Excelled in dictating play from deep, utilizing his precise and incisive passing to break through opposition lines.

RWB–Diogo Dalot – 7/10: Dalot played first half in the right wing-back spot but hardly provided any attacking threat. He showed good anticipation to put United ahead.

LWB–Tyrell Malacia – 3/10: Malacia made a poor tackle to pick up an early booking. His awful back pass could have proved fatal for United.

CDM–Toby Collyer – 6/10: The midfield unfortunately came off at half-time with a possible injury.

CM–Bruno Fernandes – 7.5/10: Fernandes hit the woodwork and should have scored United’s third goal after receiving a neat backheel pass from Garnacho.

He displayed his vision after Garnacho came on to make excellent attacking runs.

While Amorim focussed on rotation, he could not afford to rest Fernandes which speaks volumes about his importance.

CM–Kobbie Mainoo – 9/10: Mainoo made a strong run behind the FCSB defence but couldn’t find a clean connection with his shot.

He wasted a glorious opportunity in the first half but redeemed himself with a good finish to confirm United’s progression to Round of 16.

He also earned an assist for Dalot’s strike, with journalist Samuel Luckhurst describing him as ‘excellent‘.

RMD–Christian Eriksen – 6/10: The veteran grew into the game after half-time, controlling from midfield with United dominating ball possesion.

ST–Rasmus Hojlund – 5/10: Hojlund’s only notable contribution came with a smart pullback pass for Mainoo in the first half.

His current goal drought will raise concerns for Amorim.

Substitutions

RW–Amad Diallo – 6/10: He added more freshness in the right wing-back spot.

LW–Alejandro Garnacho – 8/10: Garnacho’s introduction proved to be game-changing.He struck the woodwork and delivered dangerous passes into the box, capping his performance with a well-deserved assist for Mainoo’s goal.

LCB–Leny Yoro – 6/10: He added crucial minutes under his belt after replacing Martinez.

CDM– Casemiro – 6/10: The former Real Madrid earned a rare outing under Amorim.

ST – Joshua Zirkzee – N/A: Zirkzee’s appearance was too brief to warrant a rating.
