Man United Player Seeks Exit Ahead of World Cup 2026

Manchester United are gearing up for a major squad revamp this summer to generate significant transfer funds.

With the likelihood of no European football next season almost certain—unless they secure Europa League glory by overcoming Olympique Lyonnais in the quarter-finals—a smaller squad won’t be a major issue for Ruben Amorim, given the reduced fixture demands.

Among the players with uncertain futures at Old Trafford is Altay Bayindir, who arrived on deadline day in 2023 from Fenerbahce for £4.1 million.

The Turkish goalkeeper knew when he signed—alongside £47.9 million acquisition Andre Onana—that he would serve as a backup to the new No. 1.

Bayindir saw even less action than expected under Erik ten Hag, making just two appearances during his tenure.

Under Amorim, Bayindir has been called upon four times, though his involvement has been limited since February due to injury.

His standout performance came in the FA Cup third-round win over Arsenal at the Emirates, where he saved a penalty from Martin Ødegaard in regular time and denied Kai Havertz in the shootout.

Alan Shearer later praised his “absolutely outstanding” display. Recent reports suggest United are actively seeking a new first-choice goalkeeper, confirming Bayindir was never seriously considered as Onana’s long-term successor.

Despite Onana’s struggles with high-profile errors, Bayindir hasn’t been viewed as a viable alternative.

Rather than letting the situation dishearten him, the 25-year-old is reportedly open to a summer exit in search of regular playing time, aiming to secure a key role for Turkey in next year’s World Cup.
