Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that the club must sell players before they can make new signings in the summer transfer window.

Amorim admitted that the club’s financial situation, which is impacted by Premier League Sustainability Regulations (PSR), means that they need to generate funds through player sales before they can invest in new talent.

“We have a problem at the moment, but that cannot influence the way I coach the team and prepare the next game,” Amorim said.

“My focus is to prepare the game. We cannot do (signings) now. The window is closed. We need to focus on the games that we have, especially the next one, and then in the summer we will see.”

Manchester United’s owners, INEOS, have ambitious plans for the club, including winning the Premier League title before the club’s 150th anniversary in 2028.

However, achieving this goal will require significant investment in the squad, and difficult decisions on which players to keep and which to sell.
