Man Utd Ready to Send Ace Abroad Amid Injury Woes

Manchester United Consider Radical Approach for Mason Mount’s Injury Woes: Six-Month Swiss Clinic Stint Proposed.

Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount could face a career-defining decision as the club explores drastic measures to address his persistent injury struggles.

Reports suggest the Red Devils are weighing a six-month rehabilitation program at a specialist clinic in Switzerland, a move that would sideline the 26-year-old until late 2025 but aims to resolve the muscle-related issues that have plagued his time at Old Trafford.

Mount’s Turbulent Injury History

Since joining United in July 2023 for £55 million, Mount has endured a nightmare spell, missing 112 days in the 2024/25 season alone due to recurring hamstring injuries.

His time at the club has been marked by: 27 games missed in 2023/24 after calf and “unknown” injuries.

Over 100 days sidelined in his debut season, with former manager Erik ten Hag admitting frustration over his inability to “get a regular run of games”.

A devastating setback in December 2024, tearing his hamstring just 14 minutes into the Manchester derby, which he described as “devastating” in an emotional Instagram statement.

Why Switzerland? A Last-Ditch Effort

The proposed Swiss clinic specializes in advanced muscle recovery and biomechanical analysis, offering tailored programs for athletes with chronic issues. For United, this reflects growing concerns over their medical department’s efficacy.

The Carrington medical team has faced scrutiny, with head of sports medicine Gary O’Driscoll departing after 18 months amid a spike in muscle injuries among players.

Manager Ruben Amorim has openly criticized the “busy schedule” hindering proper rehabilitation, stating, “We don’t have time to train like we should… it’s really hard to recreate the game before they come back”

Mount’s injury profile—primarily hamstring, calf, and pelvic issues—aligns with the clinic’s expertise.

A six-month hiatus would focus on rebuilding his physical resilience and addressing underlying biomechanical flaws, potentially extending his career longevity.

United’s hierarchy must balance short-term needs against long-term gains. With only 34 appearances in two seasons, Mount’s £60 million transfer fee hangs over discussions.
