Manchester United Deals Newcastle a Taste of Their Own Medicine

Newcastle placed Ashworth on gardening leave back in February after he revealed his desire to join Manchester United, with months of negotiations following to agree a compensation fee before Ashworth could begin his new role.

Newcastle reportedly initially said they would force Ashworth to see out his whole gardening leave period well into 2025 if Manchester United could not pay the £20m compensation fee they desired.

Man Utd owner Jim Ratcliffe called that idea “completely absurd”.

Dan Ashworth is seeking revenge on his former club, Mail Sport reveals. He is making them wait to officially sign one of United’s senior staff members.

Eddie Howe’s former assistant, Luke Dickson, now Manchester United’s senior analyst, has been placed on gardening leave by the club, mirroring the same treatment Howe received when departing Newcastle’s St James’ Park in February.

Manchester United’s senior analyst, Luke Dickson, has been placed on gardening leave, effectively blocking his immediate move to Newcastle until November. Additionally, Dickson will forgo any severance package despite dedicating five years to United’s academy as a senior analyst.
