Manchester United Early Team News Ahead Of Everton
Manchester United Manager Erik ten Hag will be feeling more optimistic about turning around Manchester United’s season after a narrow 1-0 win over Luton Town lifted them to sixth heading into the international break, but the Dutchman has another growing concern to deal with.
As the Red Devils near the busiest period of the season, more players are joining their long injury list with Marcus Rashford and André Onana joining becoming the latest names while away on national duties.
We assess the severity of United’s current injury list with expected return dates for those currently sidelined.
Rasmus Højlund:
The worrying sight of the Dane leaping off in the 77th minute against Luton will spark fears he could be out for several weeks.
The 20-year-old could be seen holding his hamstring, but current reports claim Rasmus is back running this week. Further assessment will be carried out to ascertain his availability this weekend against Everton in the Premier League with serious doubt about his availability.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka:
Aaron Wan-Bissaka should be back for either Manchester United’s test against Everton or their Champions League clash against Galatasaray.
Luke Shaw:
Luke Shaw has been out since the start of the season he’s now expected to make a return to the squad this weekend when Manchester United takes on Everton.
Christian Eriksen:
Erik Ten Hag’s midfielders are dropping like flies after Eriksen was left unable to continue against Luton and was subsequently brought off for Mason Mount in the first half. The 32-year-old clutched his left knee in pain after an accidental collision and with Casemiro already out, United’s options are wearing thin. Christian Eriksen is expected to be out for close to 2-3 weeks.
Tyrell Malacia:
The left-back has been out since August with a knee injury and still hasn’t made an appearance this season after undergoing surgery to fix the issue. The 24-year-old has returned to individual training but until he returns to full training out on the pitch, his return still seems some distance away.
Amad Diallo:
The Ivorian winger suffered a badly timed injury in August which scuppered a potential loan move and ruled him out for the “first part of the 23/24 campaign, and we await further”, according to Ten Hag.
Amad Diallo has returned to individual training to build up his fitness. A return date is expected within weeks.
André Onana and Marcus Rashford:
André Onana was Substituted in the 80th minute for Cameroon after he felt discomfort in his pubis area. Reports now confirms he could be out for a few weeks. Altay Bayindir is in line to feature this weekend for Manchester United.
Marcus Rashford felt a little discomfort in his ribs while on England duties and was brought off in the 66th minute but made a return for the three lions against North Macedonia. He should be fit to play this coming Sunday and for subsequent games.
Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez are both still out until 2024.
