Manchester United Player Ratings Against Coventry City At Wembley

Manchester United will face Man City in the FA Cup final next month after they overcoming a scare against Coventry City on Sunday afternoon.

Erik ten Hag’s side looked well on course for a second successive FA Cup final before they threw away a comfortable three-goal lead in the closing stages of the match to take the game to extra-time.

This United side don’t do things easy though. The Championship side continued to rally in search of a memorable goal to cap their excellent FA Cup run and they got what they deserved with twenty minutes left when Simms fired into the near-post after an excellent cross by Fabio Tavares.

It wasn’t to be a consolation either. A deflected effort from Callum O’Hare took them within a goal of United and deep into stoppage time they grabbed an almighty equalisier when Haji Wright levelled from the penalty spot after a harsh handball against Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

What followed was another 30 minutes of extra time in which both sides hit the crossbar but neither was able to find a winner before a penalty shootout decided the tie.

Andre Onana saved from O’Hare and captain Ben Sheaf blazed over the bar after casemiro miss-kicked manutd first penalty before Rasmus Hojlund netted the winner for his side.

Here is how the United players were rated in the semi-final win

Andre Onana – 7

The United no1 looked commanding, passed well but was beaten three times. None were mistakes but needed his penalty save during the shootout.

Diogo Dalot – 7

He brilliantly mopped up counterattacks with his blistering pace and used that speed on the overlap before crossing to create the opener. He also cleared an effort off the line.

Casemiro – 4

The Brazilian played well centre-back until the collapse where he was particularly poor for the first goal and missed his penalty in the shootout.

Harry Maguire – 6

Maguire is United’s only fit central defender but dominated in the air all game and did so when scoring the second goal. But was poor during the collapse.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 4

He was uncomfortable on the ball and didn’t offer much going forward. He was targeted by Coventry throughout the game. and wasn’t helped by Rashford. A really worrying display

Scott McTominay – 6

The game suited him to perfection as he was allowed to attack and had little defensive responsibility. His shortcomings in possession were exposed as it went on.

Kobbie Mainoo – 6

He kept things tidy as the game went on but didn’t do much to catch the eye. Still looks at home in the United midfield. Should have kept him on.

Bruno Fernandes – 7

He used the ball well and delivered a great corner to set up the second. A well-taken goal should have put the game to bed. As captain, he has to be partly blamed for the dreadful game management.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6

United’s best football came down the right wing. Always looked like making something happen and linked up well with his teammates, though he was wasteful at times.

Marcus Rashford – 4

He saw a lot of the ball but did little with it in the final third. Some stray passes and wasted a good chance early on. Was really poor defensively and was later substituted late in the game.

Rasmus Højlund – 5

His physicality was important to United’s approach but failed to impose himself on the game when they had possession. Looks low on confidence since the injury but has also had little or no service.

Substitutes

Antony – 4

A weak substitute performance where he wasted chances and was part of a structural collapse.

Christian Eriksen – 4

Offered little in a sluggish cameo.

Amad Diallo – 4

He come close to scoring after his introduction.

Omari Forson – 6

The youngster came close to scoring in extra time but didn’t do much.

Unused subs: Bayindir, Amass, Jackson, Ogunneye, Wheatley
