Massive Boost: Two Injured United Stars Part of Travelling Squad to Bilbao
Excitement and a hint of uncertainty surround Manchester United as they finalize their preparations for the highly anticipated UEFA Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
Reports indicate that young defender Leny Yoro and Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot are part of the travelling squad heading to Spain, although their inclusion in the final playing squad remains to be seen.

Both players have been significant figures for United throughout their Europa League campaign. However, recent injuries have cast doubt over their availability for the crucial fixture.
Leny Yoro sustained a foot injury during the recent Premier League match against West Ham United and subsequently missed the trip to Chelsea. While he was present at the club’s Carrington training ground this week and participated in a gym session, he did not partake in the open training session, fueling speculation about his fitness.
This is the second foot injury for the young Frenchman this season, having recovered from a metatarsal fracture earlier in the campaign. Manager Ruben Amorim had previously expressed hope that Yoro might be available for their Premier League game against Tottenham on Wednesday, May 21st, but his potential involvement in the UEL final was less certain.

Diogo Dalot has been sidelined with a calf injury picked up in the defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers last month. However, the Portuguese international offered a more optimistic update on his condition during the club’s media day. “I’m feeling good. So, feeling better every day.
At this stage, we go day by day to see how it goes, but so far so good,” Dalot stated, expressing his strong desire to return to the pitch as soon as possible. He confirmed he is “working hard” to be available for the final. Amorim acknowledged Dalot’s efforts, stating the player is “trying badly” to be fit but also cautioned against risking a recurrence of the injury.
The inclusion of both Yoro and Dalot in the travelling squad suggests that the medical team is assessing their fitness levels closely, and a final decision on their participation in the matchday squad may be made closer to the game. UEFA regulations for the Europa League final allow teams to name up to 23 players in their matchday squad. There are no restrictions on the number of players who can travel with the team to the venue.
Manchester United will be aiming to secure their first major European trophy under head coach Ruben Amorim against a Tottenham side they have already faced three times this season. The potential return of Yoro and Dalot would undoubtedly provide a significant boost to the team’s defensive options and overall chances in what promises to be a tightly contested final at the San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao.
