Overhaul: Sir Jim Ratcliffe Aims To Recoup £150m From The Sale Of 11 Man Utd Players

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe hopes to raise as much as £100m through player sales this summer to ease the club’s Financial Fair Play concerns.

The Red Devils spent £170m last summer, recouping just £50m through the departures of Anthony Elanga, Dean Henderson, Fred and Teden Mengi.

While United’s recruitment failures have been well documented, the club have been just as bad in terms of exits.

Ratcliffe, 71, wants this summer’s transfer window to be transformative to the club in terms of bringing in new recruits.

Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Mason Greenwood are players that could fetch substantial fees.

Victor Lindelof is on the market, while loan players Facundo Pellistri, Hannibal Mejbri and Alvaro Fernandez are up for sale.

Anthony Martial, Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans will all depart when their deals expire in June, while United remain in discussions with Raphael Varane.

The Frenchman’s current deal expires at the end of the season and United did not take up an option to extend his deal by 12 months. It remains possible that the club will trigger an extension, before listening to offers for the Frenchman.

Sofyan Amrabat will return to Fiorentina at the end of his loan deal.

Selected Manchester United player value

Mason Greenwood

Rumoured Value: £50m

No matter how gainful Mason Greenwood’s loan spell at Getafe proves to be, he almost certainly won’t play for Manchester United again.

But given that he came through the Carrington academy for no transfer fee, this summer presents a perfect opportunity to cash in for a profit.

In 27 La Liga appearances this term, the 22-year-old has directly contributed to 11 goals, leading to interest from potential long-term suitors.

In particular, Atletico Madrid have been rumoured to come calling for the forward, with the Red Devils slapping a respectable £50m price tag on his name.

Jadon Sancho

Rumoured Value: £40m

After Jadon Sancho’s infamous public fallout with manager Erik ten Hag last August, he was sent out on loan to his former club Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window.

While Dortmund admires the 23-year-old’s abilities, however, the club’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl recently told Sky Sports that they are unlikely to make his stay permanent beyond the 2023/24 campaign due to a disagreement in asking price.

This could mean one of two things for United. Firstly, they could pin their hopes on the Englishman returning to Manchester with newfound optimism – after having impressed once again in the Bundesliga – or, more popularly, they could seek an alternative exit route for the 23-year-old, who they value at £40m.

A weekly wage of nearly £300,000 makes Sancho an easier target for the proposed INEOS fire sale.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen

Rumoured Value: £20m

Casemiro looks like a shadow of his former self and, although the club will recover just a fraction of the money they forked out for his services in the summer of 2022, his age and tired legs have become a worrying aspect of the club’s midfield structure this season, with teams easily bypassing the Brazilian.

Although it has been reported previously that Eriksen is frustrated with his lack of minutes, the fact that he is also an unreliable figure makes his summer exit look all too inevitable.

Manchester United have an all-important summer on the horizon. It marks Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s first transfer period at the club since his 25% takeover was approved.
