PSG Chief Open Talks for Man United Star

Paris Saint-Germain’s football advisor, Luís Campos, has reignited discussions with Marcus Rashford’s representatives, signaling a potential summer move for the English forward, according to reports from L’Équipe.

The renewed contact comes amid uncertainty over Rashford’s future at Manchester United and his current loan spell at Aston Villa, adding another chapter to PSG’s long-standing pursuit of the 27-year-old.

A Deal That Nearly Happened in 2022 PSG’s interest in Rashford is far from new. In the summer of 2022, the Parisian club came close to securing his signature as part of a plan to replace Neymar.

Rashford had reportedly approved the move after multiple meetings between his brothers and PSG’s hierarchy, then led by sporting director Leonardo.

However, Leonardo’s abrupt dismissal and the subsequent power shift within PSG’s management derailed negotiations.

An English source close to the talks stated, “If Leonardo had stayed, Marcus Rashford would have joined PSG”.

Campos, who replaced Leonardo in 2022, has now reopened dialogue with Rashford’s camp. This development coincides with Rashford’s loan stint at Aston Villa, which includes a £40 million buy option.

While Villa could retain him, PSG’s need for attacking reinforcements especially with Kylian Mbappé’s future perpetually in flux makes Rashford an appealing target.

However, skepticism remains. In 2022, Campos reportedly believed Rashford’s camp leveraged PSG’s interest to pressure Manchester United into contract talks.

This time, the situation differs: Rashford’s five-year extension with United in 2023 has not quelled speculation, and the club is actively considering offloading him to fund squad rebuilding .

Barcelona briefly explored a move for Rashford in early 2025, but sporting director Deco admitted the forward was “not a priority” due to financial constraints.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s buy option and Rashford’s resurgence highlighted by his recall to the England squad complicate PSG’s pursuit.

The French giants may need to act decisively if Villa decline to exercise their option, though Rashford’s wage demands (reportedly £325,000 weekly at United) could pose challenges.
