PSG Set New Asking Price for Nuno Mendes

Manchester United are on the hunt for a new left-back, but Paris Saint-Germain are determined to hold onto their star, Nuno Mendes.

The English club’s need for a dependable left-back is clear, with Luke Shaw frequently sidelined by injuries and Tyrell Malacia failing to impress new manager Ruben Amorim, who left him out of the squad for the recent defeat against Wolves.

According to FabriceHawkins, Manchester United have set their sights on Mendes as a prime candidate for the position.

The 22-year-old, who rose through the ranks at Sporting CP, joined PSG for €38 million in 2022 and has become a cornerstone on their left side.

His contract with PSG runs out in June 2026, casting some doubt on his future, which has piqued the interest of various clubs, including United.

Amorim sees Mendes as the perfect player to strengthen the defensive left while also providing an attacking threat with his dynamic runs.

However, PSG are not ready to let go of Mendes without a fight. They’ve set a €40 million price tag on him, making negotiations challenging for United, especially as the club looks to manage their spending under the scrutiny of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS after previous expensive transfer windows.

Mendes himself is keen on the idea of reuniting with his former coach from Sporting Lisbon at Manchester United in January.

It will be intriguing to watch how this transfer saga unfolds, especially considering the earlier tussle between United and PSG over Manuel Ugarte in the summer.
