Revealed: Andre Onana’s Salary at Trabzonspor
Andre Onana Set for Pay Rise as He Completes Trabzonspor Loan
Andre Onana is set to receive a salary increase during his season-long loan move to Turkish club Trabzonspor, according to reports from Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler. The move comes as the Manchester United goalkeeper, who has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, seeks a fresh start.
Onana, who currently earns £120,000 a week with Manchester United, has agreed to the season-long loan. The deal reportedly includes no loan fee or an option to buy, which suggests that United may still view him as a part of their future plans.
The pay rise is an interesting development, given Onana’s recent wage cut at United. The Cameroonian international reportedly took a 25% pay cut after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League last season, a measure that is said to have displeased him. His move to Trabzonspor offers an opportunity to reverse that reduction and secure a more lucrative contract.
The transfer follows a difficult period for Onana at Manchester United. After a challenging first season, his place as the club’s number one was taken by Altay Bayındır at the start of the current campaign. With the recent signing of Senne Lammens, Onana’s first-team opportunities were set to be even more limited.
