Revealed: Benjamin Sesko’s Potential Man United Shirt Number
The air at Old Trafford is thick with anticipation today, not just for the friendly match against Fiorentina, but for the highly-expected official unveiling of Benjamin Sesko.
Manchester United are ready to welcome their new striker, the central question on everyone’s mind is which jersey number he will wear.
With Sesko’s preferred number 30 already claimed by recent signing Diego Leon, the options are numerous and carry varying degrees of significance.
One of the most likely candidates is the No. 14, a shirt made available following the departure of Christian Eriksen.
This would be a straightforward choice, offering the young forward a fresh start without the immediate pressure of a traditional striker’s number.
Similarly, the No. 20 is also an option, having been vacated when Diogo Dalot switched to the number two shirt. This number holds a unique legacy at the club, famously worn by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a detail that might be a welcome bit of history for the club’s newest forward.
While those numbers are vacant, other possibilities exist on a more complicated landscape. Sesko wears the No. 11 for his national team, but that jersey is already held by another new signing, Joshua Zirkzee.
It’s also worth noting that Sesko has worn the No. 21 during a previous loan spell, a number currently belonging to Antony, though with consistent rumors about the Brazilian’s future, it’s a number that could eventually become available.
The traditional No. 9 is, of course, firmly in the hands of Rasmus Hojlund, so a change is possible should Hojlund make the exit this summer.
