Branthwaite’s contract at Goodison Park runs until 2027 and he is reportedly happy at the club. The 21-year-old has played 17 times this season, having broken into the side this year.
He spent the last two campaigns on loan at Blackburn and PSV Eindhoven.
Man Utd are keen to sign a centre-back this season with new investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe overhauling transfer business.
Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo is also on their radar.
Any signing could spell the end for Raphael Varane with him linked with leaving Old Trafford as soon as January.
