Revealed: Man Utd Scouting Report On João Neves As They Weigh-Up Opening Bid

Manchester United are interested in signing Benfica midfielder João Neves, according to Fabrizio Romano.

United have been heavily linked with a move for Neves ever since the January transfer window.

According to Record, United have been tracking the progress of Neves for several months and are prepared to ‘advance’ on a deal to sign the talented midfielder.

It has been claimed that the Reds are interested in signing Neves as a potential replacement for Casemiro this summer.

They have closely followed his performances this season by sending scouts to watch several Benfica games.

According to Portuguese outlet Record, they are now “fully convinced” about the midfielder.

João Neves began training with the Benfica first team in January following the departure of Enzo Fernandez.

He has since made more than 38 senior appearances across all competitions.

The teenager has impressed fans since breaking into the first team, with some even calling him the “next Bruno Fernandes”.

Neves made his international debut for Portugal alongside the Man Utd captain last month in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bruno Fernandes is understood to be a huge admirer of him. The club are believed to be waiting for potential board changes, and that could take place soon — with ESPN sources revealing recently that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s partnership could be announced over the current international break.

João Neves has been a key player for Benfica this season, with form that also saw him earn his senior international debut for Portugal last month when coming on as a substitute in the 5-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Joao Neves is seen as a technically gifted midfielder with excellent passing skills. He has also drawn praise for his quick reactions and tackling skills which are in stark contrast to the sluggish performances from Casemiro this season.
