Revealed: Matthijs de Ligt & Noussair Mazraoui Man Utd Shirt number

Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are in line to make their Manchester United debut this Friday.

Both players have arrived in the UK ahead of their medicals, as they finalize their moves from Bayern Munich.

Personal terms have already been agreed between all parties. De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui will need to be registered by midday on Thursday to be available for Friday night’s Premier League fixture against Fulham.

United will pay an initial €45million fee and €5million in add-ons for De Ligt.

The Red Devils have also seen a €15million initial fee and €5million in add-ons for Mazraoui accepted.

Both players were spotted in Man Utd training this afternoon having a chat with Erik ten Hag. the shirt number of the duo have been revealed. Matthijs de Ligt is set to wear the No. 4, a number that was previously worn by Sofyan Amrabat just last season.

Amrabat loan from fiorentina came to an end after last season. It remains to be seen if United are ready to go back in for him, if the Reddevils fails to reach an agreement with primary target Manuel Ugarte.

Mazraoui will wear the No. 3 jersey at Manchester United and no longer is favourite shirt No. 40.

Man Utd’s backline will be vastly improved by the additions of both De Ligt and Mazraoui, although it remains to be seen if they will become guaranteed starters at Old Trafford.

They both know Ten Hag from their time together at Ajax, but both will face significant competition for a starting berth at Man Utd.

Diogo Dalot was one of the Red Devils’ standout players last season and could continue at right-back, while Yoro, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez will aim to keep De Ligt out of the starting XI.

However, the likelihood is that the Dutchman will become an immediate starter upon his move from Bayern.
