Sheikh Jassim Sources Responds to Fresh Bid Rumours
Sheikh Jassim’s Manchester United Ambitions Refuse to Fade

Despite Avram Glazer’s insistence that the Glazer family has no intention of selling Manchester United, rumors surrounding Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim’s potential takeover continue to swirl.
The Glazers’ 18-year tenure at Old Trafford has been marred by controversy, sparking outrage among some United fans who have long protested their ownership.
In November 2022, the Glazers announced plans to explore “strategic alternatives,” fueling hopes among some supporters that they might finally be on their way out.
Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe emerged as the primary contenders to take over the club, with Jassim submitting a £4.79 billion offer to purchase 100% of United.
Although Ratcliffe ultimately prevailed, acquiring a 27.7% stake in the club, his underwhelming start and United’s lackluster performance in the 2024/25 season have reignited speculation about Jassim’s potential return to the negotiating table.
According to a December report by the Daily Mail, Jassim remains keen on purchasing United, with a Qatari advisor revealing that the businessman “dreams” of owning the club he supports.
The advisor added that Jassim would likely be interested in buying the entire club if the opportunity arose again in the future.
Notably, Jassim’s proposed takeover would have likely eliminated United’s substantial debt, which has surpassed £1 billion since the Glazers’ 2005 takeover.
The Qatari investor was also reportedly considering constructing a new stadium, potentially reviving United’s financial fortunes.
Manchester United’s financial woes continue to mount, Sheikh Jassim’s ambitions to take over the club refuse to fade.
While Avram Glazer maintains that the family has no intention of selling, the ongoing speculation surrounding Jassim’s interest will only serve to fuel hopes among United fans that a change in ownership may finally be on the horizon.
