‘They Coach him on the field’ Scholes Slams United Star

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has intensified his critique of the club’s attacking woes, arguing that the signing of two proven centre-forwards could transform the team’s fortunes.

Central to his analysis is the ongoing struggle of £72 million striker Rasmus Hojlund, whom Scholes believes requires tactical refinement and mentorship, specifically from captain Bruno Fernandes to fulfill his potential.

Scholes has repeatedly highlighted Hojlund’s inefficient movement as a key issue. The Danish striker, who has scored just two Premier League goals this season, often drifts wide or engages in physical battles with defenders, leaving him isolated in critical moments.

“He runs too much and needs to stay central,” Scholes noted, emphasizing that Hojlund’s tendency to “wrestle with defenders” drains his energy and limits goal-scoring opportunities .

The former midfielder also stressed that Bruno Fernandesmust take on a coaching role during matches to guide Hojlund.

“Bruno has to direct him on the pitch, tell him where to position himself and demand service,” Scholes implied, drawing parallels to Cristiano Ronaldo’s ability to communicate his needs to teammates.

Scholes’ insistence on signing two forwards stems from United’s lack of depth and experience up front.

Despite Hojlund’s promising Europa League form (5 goals in 8 games), his Premier League struggles, coupled with Joshua Zirkzee’s slow adaptation, have left the team overly reliant on inconsistent performances.

United Supporters are growing impatient with Hojlund, particularly after his recent dire performance against City, where he lost most of his duels and didn’t attack the box efficiently, which contributed little before being replaced by Zirkzee.
