Man United on Cusp to Secure Signings of Two Argentine Gems
Manchester United Eye Double Swoop for Argentine Teenagers as Ratcliffe Overhauls Recruitment Strategy
Manchester United are reportedly targeting two young Argentine defenders in the latest sign that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is committed to transforming the club’s transfer approach.
Under Ratcliffe’s leadership, United have shifted away from high-profile, short-term signings like Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro—established stars who arrived on massive wages but were past their peak. Instead, the club is now prioritizing younger talent with long-term potential.
All six of United’s major first-team signings since INEOS took over have been aged 26 or younger, with a growing focus on securing future stars.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, the Red Devils are now tracking two promising Argentine centre-backs: Juan Giménez and TobÃas RamÃrez.
The 18-year-olds, both right-footed, have frequently partnered at the heart of Argentina’s Under-20 defence.
Giménez, who plays for Rosario Central, has been on United’s radar for over a year, while RamÃrez has already made 31 senior appearances for Argentinos Juniors.
Ratcliffe’s Youth Revolution in Full Swing
United’s renewed emphasis on emerging talent is already evident, with teenage prospects Ayden Heaven (defender) and Chido Obi (striker) poached from Arsenal in the past year.
Both have since made their senior debuts, though Ratcliffe humorously admitted he’s still getting to grips with the finer details of Obi’s profile.
This aggressive push for youth signals a clear departure from past transfer missteps, with United now building for the future rather than chasing quick fixes.
