Chelsea Names their Price Offer for Garnacho
Chelsea Eyeing Late Swoop for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho
Chelsea are reportedly preparing a strategic late bid for Manchester United’s highly-rated winger, Alejandro Garnacho, as the summer transfer window enters its final weeks.
The Blues are believed to value the Argentine international at around £30 million, a figure that sets the stage for a tense negotiation with their Premier League rivals.
Garnacho, who signed a new five-year contract with Manchester United in April 2023, committing him to Old Trafford until June 2028, has nevertheless been the subject of persistent transfer speculation this summer.
Reports indicate that United are open to selling the young winger, with some sources suggesting they would accept a fee in the region of £40-£55 million. Chelsea, however, appear keen to test United’s resolve with a lower offer in the dying days of the window.
The interest from Stamford Bridge is not new, with Chelsea having explored a move for Garnacho in the January transfer window and retaining their interest heading into the summer.
The West London club is said to view Garnacho as a key target to bolster their attacking options and align with their vision for a dynamic forward line under Enzo Maresca. With the club recently participating in the Club World Cup and looking to capitalise on their momentum, further business in the transfer market is still a priority.
However, Chelsea faces a challenging task. Not only is Manchester United likely to hold out for a higher valuation, but Garnacho is also attracting attention from other clubs.
While reports suggest Garnacho himself is keen on a move to Chelsea and believes he would fit Maresca’s system, any potential deal would also likely be contingent on Chelsea offloading some of their current squad members, with Raheem Sterling and Christopher Nkunku being among the names linked with potential exits.
Manchester United, under manager Ruben Amorim, has stated that they will not sell players for a cut-price fee and would be happy to reintegrate them into the squad if their asking price isn’t met.
Garnacho, along with several other United players, has reportedly expressed a desire to leave Old Trafford and has not been part of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, suggesting a willingness for a move.
The Premier League summer transfer window officially closes on Monday, September 1st, at 7 PM BST.
This leaves Chelsea with limited time to formalize their offer, navigate negotiations with Manchester United, and secure Garnacho’s services amidst competing bids.
