Brighton’s CEO Breaks Silence on Carlos Baleba Man Utd Links
Brighton CEO Paul Barber Dismisses United Speculation Over Baleba
Brighton’s CEO, Paul Barber, has publicly addressed the swirling rumors linking midfielder Carlos Baleba to Manchester United.
Speaking to the BBC, Barber stated that while there’s always interest in Brighton’s players, there has been no contact from United regarding the 21-year-old.
“Speculation is speculation,” Barber said, aiming to temper the intense media frenzy. He made it clear that while Baleba is a “fantastic talent” and the club hopes he’ll be at Brighton “for years to come,” he also acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the football world.
This statement, while reassuring to Brighton fans, also leaves the door slightly ajar to the possibility of a future move, should a compelling offer be made.
The comments come amid reports that United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, views Baleba as the “perfect” player for his midfield. The young Cameroonian’s blend of power, technical skill, and high work rate aligns perfectly with Amorim’s tactical vision.
However, Barber’s firm denial of any official contact suggests that any discussions so far have been purely speculative or have not involved the top brass at Brighton.
Brighton has a well-known reputation for developing and then selling their top talent for significant fees.
Despite this, the club is under no pressure to sell Baleba, who is under contract until 2028. Any potential move would require a substantial bid to even get Brighton to the negotiating table.
