Atletico Madrid Rejects Man Utd Offer for Midfielder

Manchester United’s ongoing quest to reinforce their midfield has hit a snag, with the club reportedly making an inquiry about a loan for Conor Gallagher at Atletico Madrid.

According to a report by Chris Wheeler of The Daily Mail, Manchester United did indeed inquire about the possibility of a loan for the English international.

The move, if successful, would have provided a much-needed injection of energy and dynamism into Ruben Amorim’s midfield.

Although, the pursuit was swiftly halted. Atletico Madrid, having acquired Gallagher in a permanent deal from Chelsea in August 2024, are only willing to part with the player on a permanent basis.

The Spanish club’s firm stance made a loan deal unfeasible for United, who, due to their significant spending this window, were reportedly looking for a more cost-effective, temporary solution.

The club has accepted that they cannot address every single squad need in one window and have chosen to wait for January or the next summer transfer window.

This measured approach suggests a more long-term strategy is in place, with the midfield now likely to be a key focus for either the January transfer window or next summer’s market.
