Early Team News: Manutd Possible Starting Line-Up At Wembley

As the watchful eye of Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains fixed on Erik ten Hag who will be present at Wembley to watch the Red Devils.

The Dutchman will earn serious credit in the bank by leading Man United – the 2022-23 EFL Cup winners to a second domestic honour in as many seasons.

Erik Ten Hag’s men have since gone winless in four straight Premier League games – drawing with Bournemouth, Liverpool, and Brentford’s last-minute equaliser ended the game in a draw and a 4-3 loss to Chelsea.

Victory over Coventry would see Man United the 12 times winners of the tournament to set a new outright record of reaching 22 finals.

The Sky Blues have a bit of confidence when it comes to stunning the Red Devils in knockout circumstances; their most recent clash in the 2007-08 EFL Cup saw Coventry stun Old Trafford by two goals to nil.

Manchester United are facing another defensive injury crisis ahead of their FA Cup semi-final date against Coventry.

The Red Devils simply can’t afford to slip up against Championship opposition as Ten Hag looks to prove he’s still the right manager to lead them into the INEOS era.

Antony has returned to training in the build-up to the game in a boost for United, who remain without a host of key defenders.

Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof are all still out, while Willy Kambwala is also now injured to leave Harry Maguire, who has himself been limited in training this week due to a knock suffered at Bournemouth, as their only available senior centre-back.

Reports claim that Casemiro could be set to partner Maguire in central defence against Coventry, with teenager Louis Jackson now joining a host of fellow youngsters in the travelling squad.

Scott McTominay should also be involved following his own knock and could slot straight back into midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo if Casemiro is indeed deployed at the back, with Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat also now absent to add to United’s problems.

Ten Hag told reporters on Friday: “Antony and Scott, I expect them to be back.

“We have some problems. Harry [Maguire] struggled with a small injury against Bournemouth and didn’t train this week, but he’s now back on the pitch, and I think he’ll be available.”

Predicted Man Utd XI: Onana, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Casemiro, Dalot, McTominay, Mainoo, Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford, Hojlund.
