Ten Hag Responds To Eriksen Complaints On Lack Of Game Time

Christian Eriksen’s season has not been one of the best of his career in terms of prominence.

Truthfully, the Dane is going through one of the seasons in which he is enjoying the least amount of playing time.

Kobbie Mainoo’s breakthrough has meant that Eriksen has enjoyed less playing time this term, making just 21 appearances so far, 11 of them starts, something he is unhappy about and has spoken to his manager Erik ten Hag about.

Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen revealed in an interview with ‘Tipsbladet’ that he had a talk with Erik ten Hag about his lack of playing time. The Dane does not seem to be happy with the role he is playing this season at Old Trafford.

“I’ve had a talk with Erik about being unhappy with the situation and wanting to play as much as possible.

He said Kobbie Mainoo is doing well, and the rest of the midfield is also performing well, so there is competition for places, he told ‘Tipsbladet’.

Addressing Christian Eriksen’s lack of starts this season, Erik ten Hag told reporters: “He takes part in every game and you see his importance when he’s on the pitch.

“He has a big influence on our team by creating, and he’s a brilliant player, someone who is very important to our squad.

“I think that is the main reason, yeah, Kobbie, his progress, we have there, an extra option,” Ten Hag said of the matter in today’s press conference, via the United app. “He was so important for us.

He is playing in that six/eight role to bring creation to the team, [and] bring composure, in our possession game, to the team. I think that is the main reason why Christian has fewer minutes than last season.”
