Man United Ace Demands Compensation to Leave

Jadon Sancho’s protracted departure from Manchester United has hit yet another snag, with reports indicating the winger is now demanding a significant severance package to facilitate his move away from Old Trafford.

This new development comes despite a “basic agreement” reportedly being reached between Manchester United and Juventus for a permanent transfer.

Sancho, who spent the latter half of the 2024/2025 season on loan at Chelsea, is said to be requesting a payout of at least £4.3 million approximately €5 million from United to terminate his contract, which is due to run until 2026.

This demand is understood to be a sticking point in ongoing negotiations, even as the player is reportedly willing to take a considerable wage cut to join the Serie A giants.

Juventus are reportedly ready to pay a transfer fee in the region of £21.5 million (approximately €25 million) plus bonuses for Sancho, a figure only marginally less than the £25 million obligation-to-buy clause that Chelsea opted not to activate, instead paying a £5 million penalty fee to United.

While this penalty fee could potentially cover Sancho’s requested payout, it highlights the complex financial maneuvering involved in the winger’s exit.

Sancho’s relationship with Manchester United has been strained since his public fallout with manager Erik ten Hag in 2023. His loan spell at Chelsea was intended to provide a fresh start, but a permanent move failed to materialize due to disagreements over personal terms.

With his return to Old Trafford, and a clear indication that he is not part of manager Ruben Amorim’s plans, all parties are keen to find a resolution.

Sources close to the negotiations suggest that while a positive meeting between Sancho’s representatives and Manchester United took place earlier this week, the severance package remains the primary obstacle.

Sancho’s current contract with United is lucrative, reportedly earning him around £13 million per year, and his demand for a payout is presumably to offset the reduction in wages he would incur by moving to Juventus, where he is expected to earn around £5.1 million per year.
