Man United Deal for Striker OFF

Manchester United Set to Miss Out on Victor Gyökeres as Club Shifts Focus to Liam Delap

Manchester United’s hopes of signing Sporting CP striker Victor Gyökeres are fading rapidly, with the Swedish forward no longer prioritising a move to Old Trafford. The lack of European competition, particularly Champions League football, appears to be a decisive factor in Gyökeres’ stance.

Sources close to the player suggest that Gyökeres is targeting a club that can provide immediate involvement in Europe’s elite tournament—something United, following a disappointing season, are unable to offer. This major shortcoming has made the Red Devils a far less attractive destination for the in-form striker.

Manchester United’s manager Rúben Amorim has also been firm in his recent comments, indicating that players keen on competing in the Champions League are unlikely to be looked at by the club this summer, implicitly ruling out United as a serious contender for Gyökeres.

With that deal all but dead, Manchester United are redirecting their attention to another promising striker: Liam Delap. The 22-year-old is now understood to be leaning toward accepting a move to Old Trafford. The club sees Delap as a viable long-term prospect and are accelerating negotiations to get the deal done.

While the lack of European football continues to hinder United’s pulling power in the transfer market, the club remains focused on securing emerging talent as they look to rebuild for the future.
