Ruben Amorim Blocks Midfielder Summer Exit

Ruben Amorim Blocks Loan Moves for Sekou Kone, Opts for Academy Development

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly made a definitive decision on the immediate future of young midfielder Sekou Kone, opting to keep the prospect at the club to train with the first team rather than sending him out on loan.

Despite what are understood to be multiple loan enquiries for the talented 19-year-old, Amorim has decided that Kone’s development is best served by staying at Old Trafford.

The young Ivorian will continue to train with the senior squad, allowing him to be directly mentored by Amorim and his coaching staff while also gaining invaluable experience alongside seasoned professionals.

The decision comes even as Kone recently suffered a head injury. The player, however, has since recovered and has been given a clean bill of health. In a recent statement, Kone said he was “doing alright” following the incident, assuring fans and the club that he is on the mend and ready to get back to work.

Kone, who has impressed in the youth ranks with his dynamism and technical ability, was expected by many to be a prime candidate for a loan spell to gain first-team minutes.

However, Amorim’s decision suggests he sees a path for Kone to integrate into the senior setup sooner rather than later. By keeping him at the club, the manager can closely monitor his progress, tailor his training, and even give him opportunities in cup competitions or as an injury replacement.

There is a clear indication that Ruben Amorim has a long-term plan for the young starlet and believes his future lies firmly at Manchester United.
