Ten Hag Reveals: Garnacho’s Attitude After Social Media Saga
Manchester United have since spoken to Alejandro Garnacho after the winger liked social media posts criticising manager Erik ten Hag over his handling of the player.
The Argentina international who was taken off at half-time in Manutd 2-2 draw at Bournemouth on Saturday, liked two messages on X, by United fanatic and YouTuber Mark Goldbridge.
One post accused Ten Hag of “throwing (Garnacho) under the bus” because of comments the United boss made about the 19-year-old’s performance.
The other said Garnacho “had a poor first half but taking him off at halftime and holding him up as the problem is a joke”.
Alejandro Garnacho quickly came under fire from the higher-up due to his social media actions.
Garnacho hastily “unliked” both messages, an action the club believes shows contrition, and a United source told the PA news agency the matter had been dealt with internally.
The teenager who has since become a regular starter for United this season, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 42 games.
Erik ten Hag was asked about his decision to substitute Garnacho at half-time.
Ten Hag told reporters of his decision to replace Garnacho at the Vitality Stadium: “I think we had to repair over the right side.
“We didn’t play well, the spaces were there. In possession, we had to bring a sub there. Garnacho was during the week not training. We thought bring some energy and bring some more quality, quality in the sense of cooperation and togetherness on that right-hand side.”

Erik Ten Hag have now shown serious backing for Alejandro Garnacho in his recent interview;
Erik ten Hag told reporters: “Alejandro [Garnacho] is a young player and has to learn a lot. He apologised for it [liking social media post criticising Ten Hag] and after that we move on.”
The issue have since been resolved with United now fully focused for FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley against Championship side Coventry city on sunday.
